Book Blurb (via Goodreads):
Buying Samir is the second book in the India’s Street Kids series by Kimberly Rae. Jasmina, who was rescued by missionaries in Capturing Jasmina, leaves safety to search for her brother Samir. She finds him but discovers he is now working with the men who once enslaved them. In telling Jasmina and Samir’s story, Rae takes the reader into the world of international child slavery. When Jasmina tries to free a group of girls Samir helped recruit, she puts all their lives in peril.
You can find my review of the first book in this series here.
The second in a series of books on children sold into slavery in India, Buying Samir picks up where the first book left off. Jasmina has been living with the Christian missionaries and now wants to find her brother so she can buy his freedom too.
Only, when she sets out to find him, there are horrible discoveries to be made. Mainly that her brother is now the very thing they both despised.
Suffering theft, physical and verbal abuse from her brother, and being trapped in her surroundings once again with the threat of being sold as a slave hanging over her head, Jasmina tries to save the girls that her brother has tricked into joining his ‘modelling’ agency so that they won’t be sold as slaves abroad.
It’s heart breaking to see the change in Jasmina’s brother and herself as she realises what he has become and all her dreams of reuniting her family are dashed to pieces.
Another eye-opening insight into the world of child trafficking in foreign places that needs to be shared.
