It’s January 1st 2016! Where did last year go??
I can’t believe that 2015 is actually over and we’re into 2016. Last year flew by ridiculously fast and I honestly can’t believe it’s gone.
2015 was a fantastic year for me personally and even though it got a little difficult near the end of the year, it was in a good way and I wouldn’t have changed it for the world.
I somehow managed to read a grand total of 190 books during 2015. I had hoped to read 191 but I fell asleep at half 11 last night and didn’t quite finish the book I was reading before the bells at midnight.
Of those 190 books, I wrote 140 reviews. Granted, I still have a lot of reviews to write up, but some of the books were ones that I read for university that I won’t be reviewing and others were manga bind ups – like One Piece or Fairy Tail – that I won’t be reviewing on here either.
My TBR went from 250 something to 250 something so… great progress was made on that…
I also managed to start writing a new middle grade series that I’m really happy with. It’s been a long time since I worked on something completely new so it was a nice feeling. I wrote the first two books and half of the third book by the end of the year and I’m going to continue working on that series this year, along with some of my other novels.
The highlight of 2015 has to be going to YALC for the first time. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’m going to be able to afford to go this year, which is a bummer, but I will be saving up to go in 2017 because it was such an amazing experience and I got to meet some of my favourite bloggers from Twitter there.
I turned 25 in 2015 which was a big birthday for me. I’ve started feeling more and more like an old lady these days so goodness knows what I’ll be like at 30! I also managed to completely wean myself off my anxiety medication for the first time in 5 years without incident. I’ve been med free since March and still going strong.
Finally, perhaps the most exciting thing that happened to me in 2015 was getting in contact with an amazing literary agent who is critiquing That’s Charming for me and offering some mentoring sessions to help me grow more as a writer. I’m really looking forward to digging into these sessions in the new year and I can’t wait to see where they take me.
So, 2015 was amazing. I read so many books, met amazing new people, got a new job, and finally moved in with my boyfriend.
2016 has a lot to live up to, but I’m excited to see where it goes.
Happy New Year guys, let’s make it a great one!
