NaNoWriMo 2016 and the Blog

Hey guys! I know I’ve been a bit sporadic in my posting lately and I do apologise for that. I’ve had a bit of hectic time lately and I’m trying to get things back into some sort of schedule. So, with that in mind, let me share with you what I’m planning for November.

I have a lot of book reviews that I still need to write and/or schedule and upload. I’m planning to do at least one review each day of November to try and get caught up. I have a blog tour post to do one of the days but the rest of the month – at least, I think – is wide open.

I’m going to aim to read two books a week (with NaNoWriMo I won’t be able to read much).

So, two books read a week, hopefully seven reviews a week and then in December I’ll get back to doing my week in review posts and settle into a more regular routine.

NaNoWriMo 2016

Now, onto NaNo. This year will be my tenth year participating and so I’ve decided to work on several novels and make my highest ever word count goal for NaNo. I’ll still basically be aiming for 50k to win, but I’m going to try and push myself a little harder.

With that in mind, here’s the novels I’ll be working on:

Genre: MG magical adventure
Word Count so far: 0
Goal: 40,000

Eleven-year-old Lea can’t wait to get started at the Academy of Charms and Charmings, but when the school tries to push her towards wish-granting and magical spells, her excitement wanes.

With her dream of being the daring and brave Princess Charming getting further and further away from her, Lea teams up with her new, more magically inclined friend, to try and change the out-dated ideals of the school.

Genre: MG magical realism
Word Count so far: 20,732
Goal: 35,000

Ilaina is an orphan with no memory of her time before the orphanage. Although the matron has always been nice to her, and the other children generally let her be, Ilaina has always been restless. Something big was coming. She wasn’t sure what, but she knew it would change her life. What she didn’t expect was a haggard older gentleman who wanted to adopt her. Who was he? And why was he so interested in her? She had never told anyone about her fairies; the little creatures she could summon when she wanted, but this man spoke as though he knew of them.

Unsure as to whether she should be wary or not, Ilaina tries to keep her distance from her new adoptive parent by exploring his large house with many dark passages and hidden secrets. Just who was this man who had taken her away from her humdrum life? And what was he keeping hidden in his home…

Genre: YA
Word Count so far: 9,819
Goal: 50,000

When Natalie has her first near-death experience, she thinks she’s lucky to have survived. But then Oliver enters her life and he’s not the cute-boy-from-class crush she’d always dreamed of; he’s a dead boy’s spirit sent to guide her on a journey he won’t tell her about.

As Natalie has more and more near-death experiences, she begins to wonder who is trying to send her a message… and why. With the help of her growing group of spirit guides, Natalie seeks to discover the truth behind what is going on around her.

There’s a deadline looming and if she doesn’t figure out what’s going on before the clock reaches zero, then the consequences could be more than she’s willing to give.

Genre: MG magical realism
Word Count so far: 4,335
Goal: 40,000

There once was a girl who was born to the moon
With hair so silver-white that it lit up a room

Gifted to a lonely soul with a heart-felt wish
For a sweet little child they will always cherish.

*No official blurb yet, just the little poem-thing I wrote that inspired the story*

Genre: YA Sci-Fi Humour
Word Count so far: 671
Goal: 50,000

No blurb just yet.

So, that’s the stories that I plan to work on during November. I’ll be vlogging the experience as usual over on my BookTube channel – uploading a video every Sunday – and I’ll have a post at the end of each day here on the blog too.

A Little Touch of Magic and Higher Calling will be uploaded to WattPad as each chapter is completed so I’ll include links to those when I can for those of you that might want to read them.

Good luck to everyone else who’ll be participating!

  1. Wow you have SO many stories to work on! o.O I can’t wait to read what you post on wattpad. I must make a concerted effort to read more on there. Good luck with everything and I look forward to the vlogs 😀
