My Thoughts

This book has to be one of the most amazing ideas I’ve seen in a long time. The idea that there’s a perfect someone out there for everyone based on your DNA is just genius and I couldn’t wait to see the different relationships that would feature. This book went above and beyond my expectations and is now a firm favourite that I am recommending to all my friends and family.

Five different people have taken the MatchYourDNA test to find their one true soul mate. The person they were genetically born to be with. Some of them travel to the other side of the world to be with the person they are meant to be with. Others don’t have to look quite so far. But the path to true love has never been easy – even when you’re destined to be together.

I absolutely loved this book. Each of the five people has such a different experience, I couldn’t wait to read them all. It’s almost like five shorter stories put together because none of the five different characters ever actually meet over the course of the book.

All of them were amazing in their own way. So different and yet all so heart-breaking in their own way too. I remember reading and just hoping that someone would get the happily ever after! Someone’s been paired with a serial killer, another is paired with someone who died recently, another is paired with someone of the same gender when they assumed they were straight. Each journey is unique and fraught with tough choices.

With the rise of online dating in recent years, it’s easy to see this kind of thing becoming a reality and the consequences of what that could mean for people who are already in a relationship or married could be terrible. Do you choose to take the test to see if you actually found your soul mate? What happens if you’re married to someone who wasn’t made for you? Do you stick it out and make it work or do you call it a day and both part to be with who you were meant to be with?

This book really gets you thinking about what you would do in these situations as you see the characters deal with the consequences of their choices and what it means for their lives.

Personally, I’m still unsure as to whether or not I would take the test. I mean, I met my boyfriend through the dating app OkCupid so perhaps I would give it a shot and see what would happen (if I was single).

This book has mystery, heartbreak, and everything in between. I heartily recommend this to everyone. Would you take the test?
